Digital Desk: The investigation into the death of Indrani Tahbildar, the Kisan Morcha secretary for the Assam BJP, is ongoing, and the police have so far obtained the confessions of 20 suspects.

The Chandmari Police, which is looking into the case following the death of the BJP leader, has reportedly recorded the statements of 20 people in relation to the incident.

The 20 people they questioned have all confirmed that money was exchanged for jobs, according to the officials.

It has emerged that the police would call all 20 of them as state witnesses against the defendants.

As many as five people were arrested earlier on September 4 in connection to the cash-for-jobs scam that was discovered to be connected to the Indrani Tahbildar death case in Assam.

Indrani Tahbildar, the secretary of the Assam BJP Kisan Morcha died by suicide when her private photographs with the main suspect in the case, Anurag Chaliha, were released.

She and several other party leaders were involved in a massive cash-for-employment scheme, where they preyed on a large number of job seekers and made quick money by promising them work, Chandmari Police in Guwahati discovered after conducting an investigation into the subject.

In the meantime, authorities questioned a total of 15 job seekers who had reportedly paid the accused money in exchange for jobs.

The officials added that Shantana Deka and Anju Das, along with all of the applicants, would be produced by the police as state witnesses. The aspirants were from Nalbari, Barpeta, and Guwahati.

Officials claimed that another suspect, Abhimanyu Das, who had been mentioned by Anurag Chaliha during his interrogation, was still at large.

Anurag Chaliha had earlier claimed during questioning by the Chandmari Police that Abhimanyu Das had politically pressured Indrani Tahbildar, which may have been involved in her death.
