Fuel price increases lead to the creation of unlawful checkpoints: Chief Whip of the Opposition

The cost of transportation has significantly increased as a result of the increase in fuel prices.

    Digital Desk: George B.
Lyngdoh, the chief whip for the opposition, criticized the NPP-led MDA
administration and drew attention to the state's growing number of illegal
checkpoints. He said that because of the ongoing rise in the price of gasoline,
there are far more unlawful checkpoints than there ever were.

    He declared, "The
state government recently raised the taxes on gasoline and diesel, further burdening
the people. The cost of transportation has significantly increased as a result
of the increase in fuel prices.

    He also went into detail
on how difficult it was for people to use public transportation following the
increase in gas prices. Castrating the terrible status of public
transportation, he continued, "Since we are dependent on road transport,
there is a hue and cry among the transporters that they are forced to pay
unlawfully at every checkpoint while commuting from Guwahati to Shillong. Along
the route from Shillong to Guwahati, there are unlawful collection points.
