Virat Kohli stunned the crowd with an incredible show of skill, establishing himself as the real sport's king and leaving viewers in complete wonder.

Digital Desk: India and New Zealand are engaged in an exciting match in the first semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, which is now taking place at the magnificent Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. India strategically chose to bat first after winning the toss, and their hitters put on an incredible show of domination against the bowlers from New Zealand.

The gifted Rohit Sharma set the tone for an exciting innings by igniting the electric start and demonstrating his extraordinary prowess once more. The legendary Virat Kohli took over, leading the Indian team ahead and reaching his historic milestone of scoring 50 runs in an ODI.

Virat Kohli stunned the crowd with an incredible show of skill, establishing himself as the real sport's king and leaving viewers in complete wonder. After hitting an astounding 117 runs off just 113 balls, which included nine fours and two sixes, his incredible innings came to an end. In addition to making a substantial contribution to the team's score, he broke other records, solidifying his place as the only player who achieved specific world records.

    Most centuries in ODI

Virat Kohli scored an incredible milestone on his 35th birthday at the renowned Eden Gardens when he scored his 49th ODI century, tying the record held by the great Sachin Tendulkar for the most ODI hundreds in history. But Kohli's remarkable effort against New Zealand not only helped him tie Tendulkar's record, but it also made him the only batter to achieve the amazing feat of 50 ODI hundreds, which catapulted him into a cricket legend.

Most runs in a single World Cup

Virat Kohli currently is the most successful player in the history of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, with an impressive total of runs. With an astounding average of 101.57 and a strike rate of 90.68, his outstanding play has earned him an astonishing total of 711 runs. Interestingly, he has amassed three centuries and five fifties to reach this achievement.

Along with this incredible achievement, Virat broke even another record that the great Sachin Tendulkar had previously held. Virat has eclipsed Sachin's record of 673 runs in the 2003 World Cup, which held for the most runs in a single edition.

    ODI cricket's third-highest run-scorer

One Day International (ODI) cricket history's fourth-highest run-scorer was Virat Kohli, before the match against New Zealand. He is currently the third-highest run-scorer in One-Day Internationals, though, having eclipsed Ricky Ponting. With 13,794 runs to his credit, Virat has now surpassed Ponting's incredible record of 13,704 runs.

First batter to score 700 runs in an ICC Cricket World Cup edition

As the first batter to ever score more than 700 runs in a single edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup, Virat has made history with the incredible amount of runs he has amassed during the competition.

Eight ODI World Cups with 50+ scores

Kohli has made history by becoming the first player to achieve more than seven fifty-plus scores in ODI World Cups. At Wankhede, he scored his seventh such point. With seven fifty-plus runs in the competition, Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan (2019) and Tendulkar (2003) are tied for second place. Both Rohit and David Warner hit six fifty-plus scores during the 2019 World Cup.
