Digital Desk : Jos Buttler's sensational IPL
2022 season came to an end with a respectable performance against Gujarat
Titans in the final, where he was removed for 39 by Titans skipper Hardik
Pandya. With wickets coming at the other end, Buttler was holding the Royals
innings together, but Hardik bowled a brilliant delivery in the channel outside
the off stump and got a thin edge, which was caught by wicket keeper Wriddhiman
Saha.
Buttler's departure meant he finished
the season with 863 runs from 17 matches, putting him in a strong position to
win the Orange Cap this season for the most runs scored in the IPL 2022. This
season, Buttler struck four hundreds and added four fifties to help Royals
reach their first final since winning the competition in 2008.
Buttler's tally of 863 runs is the
second highest ever in a single IPL season as he went David Warner's 2016 tally of 848 runs.
This puts Buttler in second place for most runs in a single IPL
season, after Virat Kohli, who scored 973 runs in just 16 matches during the
2016 season.
Following Buttler's dismissal, Gujarat Titans seized complete
control of the final, with skipper Hardik Pandya bowling a brilliant spell of
3/17 in 4 overs.
