Digital Desk: In a shocking development, the body of a missing polling officer was recovered under mysterious circumstances from a dense forest in Karbi Anglong, located south of Kaziranga, ten days after he went missing.

The deceased has been identified as 49-year-old Cornelius Kindo, a TET teacher, who had disappeared from the Rongwong Police Station area, specifically from a location known as Tim Hem. As per reports, local people of theat area discovered his body on Saturday while heading towards the hills. The body was found in a completely naked condition deep inside a remote forest area.

Upon being informed by the locals, police from Rongwong Police Station reached the difficult terrain and recovered the body later in the night before bringing it to the police station.

Notably, Kindo, who was serving as a third polling officer, had been missing since the day of voting. He reportedly went missing around noon while election proceedings were underway at the Charpoh Kathar Primary School polling station under the jurisdiction of the same police station.

A resident of Diphu’s Dhansiri Bazar, Kindo was also working as a TET teacher at Kathalguri Nepali Basti Primary School. Following his disappearance, police had launched multiple search operations, including the use of drones, but were unable to trace him.

The recovery of his body, nearly 25 kilometres away from the polling station in a remote and inaccessible forest, has raised serious questions and deepened the mystery surrounding his death. Police are expected to initiate a thorough investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.
