Digital Desk: A married man identified as Liton Saha was detained by locals in Tripura Basti area of Hojai for allegedly attempting to marry a local girl while concealing the fact that he already has a wife and a daughter residing in Guwahati.

According to reports, Liton Saha had planned to marry a girl from a financially disadvantaged background this coming Monday.

Pre-wedding rituals had already commenced on Friday; however, locals grew suspicious of his background. Upon questioning, his alleged deception came to light.

The situation escalated when locals examined Saha's mobile phone and discovered records of contact with a Pakistani phone number. It is further alleged that he had received financial transactions from the same source.

During questioning by the public, Liton reportedly admitted to the association, claiming the individual provided funds for charitable causes, such as building houses for those in need.

Given the nature of the deception and the foreign contact, locals have expressed concerns over potential "love jihad" involvement.

Liton Saha has since been handed over to the Jogijan Police Outpost.

The local residents have demanded a proper investigation into the matter along with necessary legal action.
