The Indian Embassy noted that officials have been monitoring their position and promise an early resolution to the problem at hand. 

Digital Desk: A crew of 16 Indian sailors, have flagged an SOS for help as they are stuck in Equatorial Guinea. The crew have been detained in the region for over 80 days and they fear arrest by the Nigerian Navy. Equatorial Guinea is located along the west coast of central Africa.

The crew requested aid and release from authorities after alleging improper imprisonment. 

Earlier, the Indian embassy in Equatorial Guinea stated that officials are working closely with Equatorial Guinea and Nigerian authorities to ensure the early release of crew members from the MV Heroic Idun. 

The Indian Embassy noted that officials have been monitoring their position and promise an early resolution to the problem at hand. 

"This Mission has been in regular phone contact with the crew members since their incarceration in mid-August. We have also had multiple diplomatic contacts with them. We are closely watching developments and are actively working to resolve the problem as soon as possible "according to the embassy.

On November 7, the Indian Embassy in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, confirmed their intervention in a letter to Rajya Sabha MP AA Rahim. 
In a letter to Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, the MP demanded immediate involvement, calling it "illegal confinement." Rahim stated in his letter that the crew members were apprehended in international seas. He requested that EAM Jaishankar secure his "safe return."
