Digital Desk: An earthquake of magnitude 3.5 on the Richter Scale rocked central Assam on Wednesday.

As per reports, an earthquake of magnitude 3.5, occurred on 17-01-2024, 07:54:52 IST, Lat: 26.55 & Long: 92.13, Depth: 20 Km, Location: Darrang, Assam.



Earlier, central Assam was rocked by an earthquake with a Richter Scale of 3.6, especially in the districts of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao. 

The majority of the state's damage was felt in multiple locations, while the entire state was affected by the earthquake. However, Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao, Hojai, Cachar, Karimganj, Nagaon, and Morigaon are among the areas where the earthquakes have been felt most strongly. The shocks were also detected close to Guwahati, at Sonapur. 

It is doubtful that the effects of the tremors have been felt much in the Upper Assam districts and also the western portion of the state.
