According to early accounts, the police investigation resulted in the finding of illegal items stored inside a hidden compartment inside the vehicle.

Digital Desk: During an operation on Wednesday in the northeastern state of Tripura, authorities recovered a massive consignment of cannabis.

According to preliminary reports, Government Railway Police (GRP) officers seized the cannabis shipment at Agartala Railway Station.

Four bags and two sacks containing marijuana were discovered, according to officials. The seizure weighed in at about 37 kilograms.

In the meantime, it has come to light that the cannabis was meant to be moved to other states for selling there before it was seized.

Officials claim that the smugglers fled after spotting the authorities.

This follows reports from authorities that a huge quantity of cannabis was taken from a truck during a regular search operation at the border between Assam and Tripura.

A routine naka checkpoint has reportedly been established in Churaibari hamlet near the state boundaries between Assam and Tripura, according to officials. Officials stopped a truck during the stop-and-search operation and took the cannabis shipment out of it.

According to early accounts, the police investigation resulted in the finding of illegal items stored inside a hidden compartment inside the vehicle.

Approximately 300 kilograms of cannabis were reportedly seized, according to officials. Officials assessed the seizure's value in the black market for drugs to be around Rs 40 lakhs.

In the meantime, authorities detained Radheshyam Dubey, the truck's driver, on suspicion of smuggling the contraband.

It was found during his questioning that the shipment was being shipped from Agartala to other states via Assam.
