 Digital Desk: A event in Bangkok with a northeast India theme will mark the anniversary of India and Thailand's diplomatic relations, which have lasted 75 years. The Act East Policy will advance as a large delegation of 400 people, including chief ministers, ministers, bureaucrats, industrialists, entrepreneurs, singers, artists, authors, and journalists, travel to Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, to explore shared history and encourage people-to-people exchange and trade. The northeast is the gateway of India to the ASEAN region.

The second North East India Festival will be held in Bangkok on July 30 and 31 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India's diplomatic relations with Thailand. Thailand and India's northeast have had a long-standing friendship.

During his town hall speech in Bangkok in 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that for the first time, a festival is being organised outside the nation to raise awareness of India's northeast and Southeast Asia.

The festival will go off on July 29 in Bangkok at a gathering sponsored by the Indian embassy.

Conrad Sangma, the chief minister of Meghalaya, Neiphiu Rio, the chief minister of Nagaland, Chowna Mein, the deputy chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh, RK Ranjan Singh, the Maharaja of Tripura, Pradyot Bikram manikya debram,

The Thai government will send senior officials and a high-level delegation to the opening session.

According to sources, New Delhi has given Suchitra Durai, the Indian ambassador to Thailand, the responsibility of managing the celebration.

According to officials, New Delhi's post-pandemic plan is to use such events to promote northeast India in ASEAN nations.

A total of 30 small- and medium-sized business owners will display goods from the northeast region, with a concentration on crafts, tea, and other items.

This time, attention is also given to the Tai culture of the northeast. The history, heritage, and culture of the Tai communities will be presented by a sizable team from the Tai Khamti and Tai Ahom groups.

There will also be performances of some of Thailand's most well-known dance styles.

According to chief organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, more than 400 delegates are travelling to Bangkok to take part in the festival.
