Ten organisations in Assam are planning to kickstart anti-CAA protests tomorrow at 11 a.m.
Digital Desk: In the wake of the announcement of the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019 (CAA) and the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, many regional organisations planning to protest in Assam against the Citizenship Act.
Previously, the most influential student organisation in Assam, the All Assam Students' Union (AASU), halted their protest due to ongoing student exams in the state. However, other student unions and organisations have started their protests in various places in the state.
In a recent development, ten organisations in Assam are planning to kickstart anti-CAA protests tomorrow at 11 a.m. The announcement came at a press conference organised jointly by the organisations. The call for anti-CAA is led by Assam Yuva Manch, and nine other organisations are likely to join the protest.
Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad has already started staging protests in various parts. The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad's Biswanath district unit protested on Tuesday in front of the district commissioner's office in Biswanath. The student body protested against the intended enforcement of the Citizenship Amendment Act by holding banners and posters and by raising slogans. Additionally, the demonstrators used the Biswanath district district commissioner to deliver a note to the president of India.
The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad took to the streets on Tuesday in Nagaon to protest against the anti-caste CAA. The Nagaon district committee of the Nationalist Yuva Chatra Parishad has vowed not to allow the CAA to come into force in Assam for any reason. Leaders and workers of the organisation took out a protest march through Nagaon town near the district commissioner's office.
