Digital Desk: So far reports have been revealed that an operation was conducted out jointly by Assam Rifles soldiers and narcotics department officials in which a huge heroin shipment was recovered.

The heroin package was captured during an anti-narcotics operation in Mizoram's Jemabawk district. The seizure weighed 1.026 kilogrammes when weighed.

The heroin was filled in 88 containers and was being smuggled when it was intercepted, according to information gathered.

The recovered heroin package was believed by officials to be worth roughly Rs 5 crores in international narcotics markets.

In the meantime, two people were arrested in connection with the case on suspicion of carrying illegal drugs.

Officials identified those arrested as Mingthan Changa and Lalsinga Sailo.

It should be emphasised that the crackdown on the drug issue in Assam continues, with large busts announced daily. Two large drug busts were reported earlier this month in Assam's Karimganj and Hailakandi districts.
