Digital Desk: The Nagaon District and Session Court set the next hearing for June 26 and 27 in connection with the 2018 mob lynching incident of Abhijit Nath and Nilotpal Das.

Earlier today, 48 suspects who were apprehended in connection with the case appeared in court, and the lower court recorded the statement of the case's last witness, i.e., the 71st witness in the case.

The case was first heard in Diphu court, but after the parents of the victims filed a writ petition, the court processing was moved to Nagaon court.

It should be noted that on June 8, 2018, Abhijit and Nilotpal were brutally killed by a mob in Dokmoka in Assam's Karbi Anglong district.

The district police have 844 pages of chargesheets, a 104-page case diary, and two cases lodged under IPC 302, 341, 427, 143, 144, 149, and CRPC 109. To expedite the investigation into the horrific murder of two Guwahati youths by a mob, Assam police formed an SIT (Special Investigation Team).

The heinous murder of two Guwahati youths by a mob near the Kangthilangso waterfall in the Karbi Anglong district has shaken the country.
