ABSU has appealed to the Government of India to present the Bharat Ratna to Bodofa

Digital Desk: The 68th birth anniversary of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, revered as the father figure of the Bodo community, was commemorated today, March 31, across the state as Students' Day.

The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) has appealed to the Government of India to present the highest civilian award of the Republic of India, Bharat Ratna, to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma in recognition of his immense contributions.

Dipen Boro, in his address from the Students' Day celebration hall, reiterated ABSU's commitment to advancing Bodofa's vision for social equality and education. Similarly, Khampha Bargyari, the former deputy chief executive of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) and BPF vice president, emphasised the need for governmental recognition through the Bharat Ratna award.

The event saw a remarkable moment of bipartisan solidarity as Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma and Khampha Bargyari, setting aside political differences, paid homage to Bodofa in unison.

Rupa Sinai, an independent journalist from Mumbai, graced the occasion as the chief guest, underscoring the national significance of Bodofa's legacy.
