Digital Desk: A Chennai court sentenced six-month imprisonment to actress-turned-politician Jaya Prada in connection with a case linked to a petition filed by employees of a cinema hall owned by her in Rayapeta.

She has also been fined Rs 5,000. Reportedly, the said movie hall is run by Ram Kumar and Raja Babu.

The theater employees moved to court as the management failed to pay their ESI. However, Jaya Prada has agreed to reimburse her employees the entire amount while asking the court to dismiss the case.

Nonetheless, the advocate representing the Labour Government Insurance Corporation objected to her appeal.

As a result, Jaya Prada and three other people involved in the case were sentenced to six months in prison. They were also ordered to pay a fine of Rs 5,000 each.
