As per data on the district administration's website, Kurali only received one temporary licence for the sale of fireworks.

Digital Desk: Officials from the district administration on Tuesday said that they will launch a drive to stop the illicit selling of firecrackers in the coming days since the practice persists in various locations throughout Kurali, Pune.

According to data on the district administration's website, Kurali only received one temporary licence for the sale of fireworks. A trip to the town reveals, however, that firecrackers are being sold illegally at several businesses.

During the draw of lots on October 12, two locations in Kurali were designated for the sale of crackers: Shaheed Beant Singh Stadium on Siswan Road and Sports Stadium on Singhpura Road.

Kurali is recognised as North India's firework capital. "Can you imagine what we'd do to these crackers?" Every year, people here make significant investments in this industry. During the pandemic, it suffered greatly. "Everyone here wants to make a nice sale this season," remarked a trader selling crackers on Kharar Road.

The shopkeeper claimed that despite being aware of the town's reputation for selling fireworks, the administration only granted Kurali one licence.
