Digital Desk: Following the tragic accident that killed seven Assam Engineering College (AEC) students in Guwahati's Jalukbari area, the college authorities have issued a new set of strict rules for hostel boarders, according to reports.

According to the updated rules, the police administration is authorized to pick up any border of Hostels located outside the campus after the time limit has passed and without authorization for a valid reason.

AEC's new rules for hostel boarders include the following:

1. Regular inspections will be conducted on the AEC hostel premises for the presence of unauthorized persons and contraband items by teams of surveillance teams that will be constituted by the college's management.

2. Consumption of alcohol/drugs is prohibited within the AEC hostels/campus, and anyone found involved will be expelled from the hostel/college. Moreover, they will be handed over to the police, and this will be mentioned on their Pass Certificates.

3. Motorcycles, bikes, and cars are not permitted to be parked on the AEC hostel/college campus by the hostel boarders for regular usage by any college student.

4. Elimination of the selling of alcohol and drugs in and around the AEC premises, with the support of the police administration.
