Kabul: Schools for girls and young women have been closed for a long time now in most parts of Afghanistan after the Taliban took over the country from the US occupation. Due to this Afghan girls have been deprived of their basic right to education.
According to a report by ANI, on Tuesday, the girls and teachers in the country came together to urge the hardline Taliban regime to reopen schools for girls and young women so that they can go back to study again.
A 12th grade student from Kabul named Madina, while talking to the media, said that she is optemistic about the reopening of schools in Kabul and the other provinces of the country so that they can go back to study again.
Besides, a school teacher named Ashoqullah stated that education is the basic right of girls and schools should reopen at the earliest. Further, Ashoqullah added that, women, which is big part of the society should not be affected for any reason.

Earlier, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, said on Monday that the Taliban government has broken thier promises made to the women and girls of the country. He also reappealed them to keep their promises to Afghan women and girls and follow their obligations under the International Human Rights Law.
Schools in the country have been closed for almost two months now. Only three provinces, which are Balkh, Kunduz and Sar-i-Pul have reopened schools for girls.
