The European seismological agency, EMSC, said the earthquake’s tremors were felt over 500 kilometres (310 miles) by 119 million people across Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India.

Digital Desk: The death toll from an overnight earthquake in Afghanistan is increasing and it has reached 1,000, according to reports. Moreover, at least 1500 people were reportedly injured in the incident.

The United States Geological Survey stated.

The majority of the fatalities were recorded in the eastern Afghan province of Paktika, where 255 people were killed and more than 200 were injured, according to Salahuddin Ayubi, a representative from the interior ministry. In the province of Khost, he claimed, there had been 90 hospitalizations and 25 fatalities. 

The government-run Bakhtar news agency reported both the death toll and the arrival of the helicopter rescue team. Abdul Wahid Rayan, the director-general of the news agency, claims that scores of people are purportedly trapped under the rubble and that 90 homes have been damaged in Paktika.
