Digital Desk: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said that there will be a cabinet overhaul in the state on Wednesday, involving four to five new faces. Banerjee was hurt by recent raids on her former minister and close associate Partha Chatterjee.

"Sadhan Pande and Subrata Mukherjee were lost as ministers. All their task must be completed because Partha is in prison. Not something I could handle by myself, "She remarked.

According to Ms. Banerjee, they do not intend to completely replace the current cabinet. She asserted that the number of districts in the state has increased from 23 to 30, and that many of them routinely write to her.

"There used to be 23 districts in Bengal, but there are currently 30. Sunderban, Ichhemati, Ranaghat, Bishnupur, Jangipur, Behrampur, and one more district will be named in Basirhat are among the seven new districts. Many of them write frequently, "She spoke.

Days after his assistant Arpita Mukherjee's properties in Kolkata were raided and tonnes of cash and kg of gold were taken, he insisted the money did not belong to him. He claimed there was a plot to frame him.

After the investigation agency raided a number of houses held by Mr. Chaterjee's 30-year-old aide, mounds of cash were discovered. This led to harsh criticism of the Mamata Banerjee administration.
