Digital Desk: The All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen ( AIMIM ) chief Asaduddin Owaisi received Z security cover after a day when his convoy was allegedly fired upon in western Uttar Pradesh. The AIMIM chief's car came under attack in Hapur while returning to Delhi. However, no one was injured during the firing incident.  The 'Z category' is a security attribute of 22 personnel, including four to six NSG commandos and police personnel. It is provided by the Delhi Police or the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) or Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and one escort car.  Also Read: 75% job reservation for locals: Haryana moves SC against HC’s stay order As per sources, Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi got this security cover for better protection from the government. Last Friday, Owaisi claimed that he had never pursued security cover. The AIMIM chief added that he never would because it is the state's responsibility to safeguard his life. The police authorities further stated that multiple teams were investigating the matter. An inspector general of the Meerut zone was poured in to supervise the investigation. Polls are planned for February 10 in 58 assembly constituencies across 11 districts of western Uttar Pradesh. The polls are being held over seven stages.
