Digital Desk : A minor fire broke out in the tail section of an Air India aircraft shortly after it landed at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Tuesday, 22nd July . The flight, AI 315, had arrived from Hong Kong and had parked at the gate when the incident happened.

According to Air India authorities claimed that the fire in the aircraft broke out on the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) after landing. In an official statement, an airline spokesman, “Flight AI 315, operating from Hong Kong to Delhi on 22 July 2025, experienced an APU fire shortly after it had landed and parked at the gate. The incident occurred while passengers had begun disembarking, and the APU was automatically shut down as per system design.”

Even though the aircraft sustained some damage, all the passengers as well as crew members were safely evacuated without injuries. The plane was subsequently grounded and subjected to a thorough inspection, and the case has been reported to the aviation regulator, where investigations are going on.

The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) confirmed that the fire was put under control swiftly and that an inquiry is already being conducted to find out the cause.

Notably, this accident occurred just a day after another Air India flight faced trouble. On Monday,  another incident happened when an Air India plane to Kolkata could not take off at Delhi airport because of a technical fault, which drew more attention to the operational safety of the airline.

Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and are expected to release further updates as investigations proceed.
