The film's makers, YRF, have written an official letter informing Shri Rajput Karni Sena, President of the development.

Digital Desk: The makers of the upcoming period drama 'Prithiviraj' starring Akshay Kumar have renamed the movie's title to 'Samrat Prithviraj' after the Shree Rajput Karni Sena filed a PIL on Friday. The film's makers, YRF, have written an official letter informing Shri Rajput Karni Sena, President of the development.

The letter read, "We sincerely appreciate your effort in alerting us about your grievance in relation to the current title of the Film, and assure you that we did not, and do not, intend to hurt the sentiments of any person(s) or disrespect the late king and warrior, Prithviraj Chauhan. In fact, we wish to celebrate his bravery, achievements, and contribution to our nation's history, through this Film."

'Samrat Prithviraj' is supposed to be Yash Raj Film's first historical drama, with Akshay Kumar playing the role of a powerful ruler. Meanwhile,  Manushi Chhillar is set to make her big Bollywood debut with the film, in which she will play the role of Princess Sanyogita, Prithviraj Chauhan's wife. The film is directed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi and stars Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood in key roles.

For the uninitiated, Advocate Raghavendra Mehrotra, who is representing Shree Rajput Karni Sena, sent the legal notice, followed by filing a PIL no. (St) 16448/2022 before the Honourable High Court demanding a change of name as the title has hurt the sentiments of the Rajput community's.
