Ahead of the  Punjab Assembly polls, Capt Amarinder Singh’s Punjab Lok Congress announced an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party for the 2022 assembly elections in Punjab.

Former Chief Minister of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh tweeted that he met BJP’s Punjab in-charge and Union Minister Gajendra Shekhawat at his residence in New Delhi.

On the other hand, Gajendra Shekhawat confirmed the alliance with Amarinder Singh for the 2022 assembly elections in Punjab. He also announced that the details of seat-sharing between the two will be revealed soon.

According to Amarinder Singh, the alliance will be a fruitful one with a 101 percent win in the elections.

Interestingly the former Chief Minister has formed his own party, Punjab Lok Congress days after he formally resigned as the CM and also quit the Congress. The former partner of Shiromani Akali Dal also lost the alliance with BJP earlier this year. The three laws had led to a falling out between BJP and its old alliance partner in Punjab, the Shiromani Akali Dal

The high voltage Assembly elections in Punjab are expected to be held early in the next year.
