Amazon has yet to confirm the layoffs in writing.

Digital Desk: According to reports, Amazon has begun to lay off employees in various departments. The announcement comes just one day after a report claimed that Amazon will lay off nearly 10,000 employees. Although Amazon has been tight-lipped about the layoffs, employee LinkedIn posts-old indicate that they are well underway. According to reports, Amazon employees were summoned to meetings by their managers and told they had two months to look for new jobs.

As per a Wall Street Journal report, Amazon is reported to have cut 10,000 jobs across departments. Several employees had taken to Linkedin to talk about their dismissal from the company. The employees who have posted about their layoffs mostly belong to Amazon's Alexa virtual assistant business, Luna cloud gaming platform division and Lab126, the division that operates the Kindle e-reader.

"Of course, I am saddened, but hopeful for the future because I know this means good change for me and others on my team," one employee wrote. Another Amazon employee, who worked as a Software Development Manager, revealed that his entire team had been destroyed. "Amazon layoffs have impacted my team!! Strong SDEs (Java/C#/GoLang) looking for open positions, please leave a comment if you have any. We'll get back to you. Please like, comment, or share for greater exposure. "Many thanks!" wrote Bhasker Reddy on Linkedin.

"Due to the nature of my visa, I have a limited time to look for new work opportunities," said a woman of Indian origin who worked as a Software Development in the United States.

Amazon has yet to confirm the layoffs in writing. However, a post by Amazon's senior vice president, Beth Galetti, hinted at the layoffs. "We anticipate maintaining this pause for the next few months and will continue to monitor what we're seeing in the economy and business to adjust as we think makes sense," he wrote.

Previously, Meta let go of nearly 11,000 employees. Mark Zuckerberg stated in an email to Meta employees that he is making significant changes to the company. He also apologised to the employees affected by the layoffs and accepted full responsibility. Zuckerberg also stated that the affected employees will receive all necessary support as well as severance pay. "With no cap, we will pay 16 weeks of base pay plus two weeks for every year of service." He also stated in the mail that the company will pay for people's and their families' healthcare for six months.
