Famous sitcom 'Friends' star James Michael Tyler passed away on Sunday. He died at the age of 59. He was suffering from prostate cancer.

In June, James revealed he had prostate cancer. Unfortunately, he was suffering from an advanced form of the disease in 2018, spreading to his bones.

Star James, who played the role of Gunther, died at his home in Los Angeles, said his representative. Additionally, millions of fans loved the Friends actor for his portrayal of Gunther. He acted as a quirky coffee shop manager with bleached hair and unrequited love for Jennifer Aniston's Rachel.

In a report, his family stated: "The world knew him as Gunther (the seventh "Friend"), from the hit series Friends, but Michael's loved ones knew him as an artist, composer, cancer-awareness advocate, and generous husband.

Michael loved live music, cheering on his Clemson Tigers, and often found himself in fun and unplanned adventures. "If you met him once, you made a friend for life. [Tyler] is survived by his wife, Jennifer Carno, the love of his life," said his family.

Several fans called Tyler as the "seventh Friend" due to his pervasiveness in the show. He milled about behind the counter at Central Perk.

Friends star James kept his diagnosis a secret from the public for around three years. "I was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer, which had spread to my bones," Tyler stated in a June interview.

"I've been dealing with that diagnosis for almost the past three years ... It's stage four (now). Late stage cancer. So eventually, you know, it's gonna probably get me," Tyler added.

Tyler spent 10 years in the recurring role of Gunther on Friends. Also performing in Sabrina the Teenage WitchScrubsEpisodes, and Modern Music, a few others.
