Digital Desk: Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s three-day visit to Assam and Meghalaya is commencing today (Thursday, Jan 18).

After his arrival, he is scheduled to inaugurate a cyber-security operational center at the headquarters of the Assam Rifles in Shillong. During Shah's visit, the Assam Rifles headquarters and the State Convention Centre in Shillong were designated as no-fly zones by the Deputy Commissioner of the East Khasi Hills District, prohibiting the operation of drones for any purpose.

Shah is expected to take part in the 71st Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) at the State Convention Centre in Shillong on Friday, January 19. He will also examine the operations of the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC).

Notably, Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which is scheduled to begin on the same day from Nagaland to Assam, falls on the same day as this visit.

The Home Minister has a full schedule of appointments on January 20 in Assam. He will be present at the 13th triennial meeting of the All Bathou Mahasabha in Dhekiajuli, Sonitpur district, as well as the 61st Raising Day celebrations of the SSB at the SSB compound in Tezpur.

Shah will also be present at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati for the passing-out parade of 2,551 Assam Police commandos.

Additionally, he will inaugurate the Brahmaputra Riverfront in Guwahati and launch a book at the Srimanta Sankardeva International Auditorium titled "Assam's Braveheart Lachit Barphukan" during his visit.
