Digital Desk: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed on Monday (May 8) that Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to Assam has been postponed to May 26 due to violence in Manipur.

He stated this during a press conference at Janata Bhawan, Guwahati.

''Due to the unrest in Manipur, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has postponed his visit to the state until May 26th. So, we will distribute the appointment letters to the passed candidates on May 26,'' he said.

Due to the unrest in Manipur, Shah recently cancelled his electoral campaign in Karnataka.

Shah was scheduled to take part in a roadshow at Karatagi, Koppal district, on May 5.

Moreover, he also canceled the Kustagi public gathering as well as the Koppal tour.

However, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, will attend these rallies and public meetings.
