Digital Desk: Anil Kapoor, like Amitabh Bachchan, has his personality rights protected. The actor had petitioned the Delhi High Court to have his name, voice, signature, and image rights protected.

The Delhi High Court issued an interim John Doe order on Wednesday, September 20, prohibiting social media platforms, e-commerce companies, and the general public from infringing on Anil Kapoor's personality and publicity rights.

Unauthorised platforms are not permitted to utilise Anil Kapoor's name, voice, image, or dialogue illegally for commercial purposes, as stated by the court.

The defendants are accused of exploiting various aspects of his persona by publicising and collecting money. This has been accomplished by the use of his photograph as a motivational speaker, his dialogues and name, his voice as a ringtone, photographs with the phrase 'jhakkas,' and face masks with his pictures, among other things.

Counsel has depended on court decisions to argue that such aspects of personality are protectable. The court has also been made aware of draught recommendations by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs aimed at protecting customers from dark patterns.

Aside from that, the court prohibited the use of artificial intelligence methods to morph his picture, as well as the use of his image in GIFs for monetary benefit or commercial objectives, when such actions are likely to violate the veteran actor's rights.

Meanwhile, the actor is getting ready for his forthcoming film, 'Fighter,' in which he will co-star with Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone. Sidharth Ananad's film will be released in theatres on Republic Day, 2024. He is also financing the next film 'Thank You for Coming,' which stars Bhumi Pednekar, Shehnaaz Gill, Dolly Singh, and others.
