Golaghat: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu visited the residence of Animesh Bhuyan, who was attacked by a violent mob a day ago in Jorhat. The minister assured that the state government would take all necessary steps to give justice to Animesh and the trial of the case will take place in the fast-track court.

Condoling the death of Animesh Bhuyan, minister Ranoj Pegu on the instruction of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, visited the residence of the victim at Khakandaguri village under Dergaon police station in Golaghat district. He was accompanied by Mariani MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi.

The minister offered condolence to the family members of the victim.

While sharing pictures of his visit to Animesh Bhuyan’s on his Twitter handle, Dr Pegu wrote: “At Khakandaguri village under Dergaon PS, visited and offered my condolences to the bereaved family members of Animesh Bhuyan who was brutally killed in Jorhat yesterday.”

“The trial will be done in a fast-track court,” said Pegu in his tweet.

The main accused in Jorhat’s sensational mob lynching case, Kala Guda aka Niraj Das has been arrested by Jorhat Police. Kala Gunda was the main culprit behind the mob lynching of Animesh Bhuyan who later succumbed to his injuries.

A mob of over 50 people attacked three youths in which Animesh Bhuyan (30) was killed, a day ago, near the truck station, right in the centre of Jorhat. He was also a leader of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU). The other two were injured and are received treatment.

Hailing from Golaghat’s Khumtai area, Bhuyan and two others were grievously injured when the mob attacked alleging they were involved an accident that took place in the area.
