Digital Desk: Aminul Islam and Jahangir Alom, two natives of Bangladesh, taught at the madrasa between 2020 and 22. They are both linked with Al Qaeda, according to officials.

Locals in Goalpara, Assam, destroyed a madrasa after complaining that two Bangladeshi nationals were using the building for terrorist activities, according to authorities.

Aminul Islam and Jahangir Alom, two citizens of Bangladesh, taught at the madrasa between 2020 and 2022, according to officials. They are both linked with Al Qaeda.

Currently on the run, Aminul Islam and Jahangir Alom are being sought out.

According to the police, a residence near to the madrasa in the Pakhiura Char neighbourhood was also destroyed, and no government employees were engaged.

According to authorities, "the people voluntarily demolished the madrasa and the house next door in a gesture of extreme resentment for Jihadi operations."

Jalaluddin Seikh, a preacher, was detained last month for allegedly radicalising young people in the state after enrolling the two Al Qaeda militants to teach at the madrasa.

This was the fourth madrasa in Assam to be destroyed in the last month due to allegations of connections to terrorist organisations and attempts to establish "jihadi sleeper cells" there.

According to the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam has turned into a hub for "jihadi operations." Additionally, if they are from outside the state, religious instructors in Assam's mosques and madrasas will need to register on a government website.

According to officials quoted by news agency PTI, Assam police have detained more than 40 persons since March of this year and are keeping a rigorous monitoring, especially in lower and central Assam's minority-dominated areas.
