Doomdooma: There was a strong sensation in the area of Doomdooma due to the alleged assault of Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd. APDCL staff on duty. 

Babu Borah, husband of the acting president of the Hapjan Anchalik Panchayat, a BJP leader Moni Mazumder Borah allegedly assaulted the junior engineer of APDCL. 

As per sources, the power supply was severely affected in the entire Doomdooma circle. It happened due to the massive storm that cleared through the Doomdooma circle on Thursday.

The wind caused extensive scale losses as trees fell on the electrical lines and excavated many electrical posts-old. The officials and the operators of Doomdooma Electrical Sub-Division began the repair work on an urgent footing. 

A support crew from APDCL, Doomdooma, under the supervision of a junior engineer, was doing repair work at Bijoy Nagar. Babu Borah of Rupaisiding, Bishnu Nagar locality, arrived at the scene around 4:30 pm. Borah allegedly began to scold the APDCL operators and the engineer for their negligence to repair the power supply in the Bishnu Nagar area.

He further allegedly assaulted the junior engineer on duty. After this, the APDCL team departed from their responsibility and left the area. 

Following this, Doomdooma Electrical Sub-Division's sub-division engineer of APDCL registered an FIR against Babu Borah.

Meantime, the public of Rupaisiding, Bijoy Nagar locality, also filed an FIR in Doomdooma PS against him. However, though the police registered a case (270/21), they are yet to act upon the accused. 

Locals, especially of Rupaisiding, Bijoy Nagar, revealed apparent displeasure over the police inaction.
