Mizoram: Education department of Mizoram has directed to re-open over 300 schools that fall under Covid-19 free areas for the new academic session, the report said.

A report of PTI stated, “The school education department on August 9 issued an order to allow re-opening of schools from primary to higher secondary level in Covid-19 free villages and towns, with prior consultation with deputy commissioners.”

Moreover, the order stated that a Standard Operating Procedure issued by the department would have to be strictly followed.

Reportedly, around 376 schools in the seven districts, including Aizwal, have been ordered to re-open for the new academic session 2021-2022.

According to the report of PTI, the majority of the schools in the Covid-19 free area have already started their regular classes, while more than 27 schools will be re-opening from Monday.

The report said, around 49 schools have been allowed to re-open in Aizawl district, 151 in Champhai, 74 in Serchhip, 47 in Lawngltai, 11 in Siaha, 20 in Saitual, and 27 in Khawzawl district.

Moreover, on Friday, the Mizoram government has extended the partial lockdown in Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC) area and imparted certain Covid restrictions in other parts of the state to be followed till September 4.
