Digital Desk: BJP MLA from Arunachal Pradesh Jambey Tashi died at Guwahati's Downtown Hospital after a prolonged illness.

Jambey Tashi served as a BJP lawmaker for the Lumla district in Arunachal Pradesh's Tawang district. Tashi, aged 44, was a BJP member of the National Minority Morcha. He had formerly belonged to the People's Party of Arunachal and the Indian National Congress.

He was elected from the 1-Lumla S/T Assembly constituency in 2009 without a challenge on a Congress platform. He won by 1499 votes in the 2014 election for the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly's 1 Lumla seat over Independent Theg Tse Rinpoche, who ran on a Congress platform.

He rode on a BJP ticket in the 2019 Legislative Assembly elections and defeated Jampa Thrinly Kunkhap of the NPP by 1288 votes. Jampa Thrinly Kunkhap received 3279 votes, while Jambey Tashi received 4567 votes.
