Digital Desk: On Friday, at least 11 students from Sonitpur Jatiya Vidyalaya in Tezpur fainted inside their classrooms due to the blazing heat, with day temperatures in the state continuing (4-6) °C above normal.

According to reports, the situation became chaotic when students in classes VII and VIII complained of discomfort and fainted during an afternoon class.

All of the students who fainted were transported to Tezpur's Gate Hospital and given first assistance.

The students' health was described as stable. The incident was reported to the children's parents.

Earlier, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) anticipated that dry weather conditions will dominate in Guwahati and its surroundings for a few days, with day temperatures continuing (4-6)°C above normal.

However, isolated pockets of light rain are likely in Assam and other portions of the Northeastern areas.
