Digital Desk: A major fire that started in a market area in Sonai Tehsil in the Cachar district of Assam has destroyed at least 16 establishments. On Monday morning, the event was reported from Swadhin Bazar. 

Sources reported that goods worth lakhs were destroyed in the fire, adding that the majority of them were supermarket and vegetable stores. 

According to officials, the massive inferno was a result of an arson attack carried out by unidentified miscreants. 

Soon later, firefighters arrived at the scene and quickly put out the fire, which had quickly spread to many nearby stores. 

It is to be noted that the police officials reached the spot and initiated an investigation into the matter.
