Digital Desk: At least three people were killed after a speeding vehicle hit them in the Dibrugarh district of Assam on Wednesday.

The incident was reported on Jaipur Natun Ali Road in the district.

The three deceased were reportedly identified as Vikram Mahali, Lakhi Patar, and Nirmal Das, all residents of Lahowal.

The three of them, who worked for a daily salary, were reportedly waiting by the side of the road when a speeding car ran them over.

Two of the victims died while being treated at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) but passed away during the treatment.

Meanwhile, enraged local residents beat the car's driver before turning him over to the authorities.

It may be mentioned that the driver was under the influence of alcohol when the incident occurred.
