As per the reports, lightning struck the women when they were plucking leaves in the tea garden.

Digital Desk: At least six women received injuries after being struck by lightning in Assam’s Biswanath district on Wednesday.


The women have been identified as Pinki Tasa, Pomy Khadal, Momi Bhumij, Lakhmi Oriya, Kumoli Khudal and Gopi Oriya. All the injured women were tea garden labourers of Pabhoi tea garden and Majuli Garh tea garden.


As per the reports, lightning struck the women when they were plucking leaves in the tea garden.


Meanwhile, all the women were rushed to a civil hospital where they are undergoing treatment.

Notably, according to Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), at least18 people were killed in the month of April due to lightning and storms that struck different parts of the state.
