The sacks of the Burmese supari were smuggled from Hailakandi to Doboka when they were intercepted by police.

Digital Desk: Police in Assam's Hojai district seized a large amount of Burmese supari on Tuesday.

A mini truck was intercepted near Bamungaon near Udali and 78 sacks of Burmese supari were seized.

Nazrul Islam, Narul Haque, Abdul Salam, and Nurul Haque were arrested in connection with the seizure.

The sacks of the Burmese supari were smuggled from Hailakandi to Doboka when they were intercepted by police.

Meanwhile, a case has been filed against the four arrested people under relevant sections of the law.

A mini truck carrying 40 sacks of smuggled Burmese Areca nuts was seized earlier yesterday in Assam's Cachar district.

According to sources, the areca nut bags were smuggled from Mizoram and covered with 'Kaji' lemons to conceal the sacks.

The areca nuts seized are thought to be worth several lakhs. In connection with the seizure, two people have been arrested.
