The fact that over half of the recently appointed professionals are female...

Digital Desk: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the appointment of 36 additional scientific assistants to the Directorate of Forensic Science on Sunday. The fact that over half of the recently appointed professionals are female is what differentiates this development.

Taking to X, Chief Minister Sarma expressed the importance of this move, stating, "In what will be a significant step towards better policing, Govt of Assam has appointed 36 new Scientific Assistants in the Directorate of Forensic Science—over half of them being women."

The initiative, which aims to guarantee a higher conviction rate and fortify the criminal justice system, is in line with Bharat's transition to a forensic-based investigation methodology. To fulfill the changing demands of contemporary investigations, the nation will need over 90,000 forensic scientists, therefore demand for forensic professionals is expected to increase in the upcoming years.
