MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed was suspended for a day by the Assam Assembly speaker Biswajit Daimary...

Digital Desk: On the second day of the budget session 2023, Baghbor MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed was suspended for a day by the Assam Assembly speaker Biswajit Daimary on charges of 'disrupting procedures'.

During the session, the Baghbor MP accused the state revenue minister of presenting misleading information about the eviction drive at Satra Kanara village in Assam's Barpeta district in December last year.

He also wanted to ask additional questions about the eviction push, but the speaker interrupted and restrained him from speaking.

In response, the MLA protested in front of the speaker's platform. MLA Sherman Ali was later led outside the Assembly by two marshals.

It should be noted that in December of last year, the Barpeta district administration in Assam undertook an eviction drive in the Baghbor constituency to clear illegally occupied government lands.

According to sources, the eviction occurred at Satra Kanara village in Assam's Barpeta district's Baghbor constituency.

During the drive, 400 bighas of illegally occupied government lands at Satra Kanara's No. 12 seat were liberated.

It was also discovered that the district administration had issued circulars notifying residents of government-owned land of the eviction drive a week earlier.

Several inhabitants allegedly followed the message and left within the time frame, but several stayed and were expelled later.
