Guwahati: At least 300 Ola and Uber drivers jointly delete both the ride-sharing app today in Chachal protest ground. The protesters claimed that they were deprived of the necessary benefits from the two multinational ride-sharing companies.

One of the protestors claimed, “We are deprived from the necessary benefit by the owner of Ola and Uber i.e., Bhavish Aggarwal and Dara Khosrowshahi, they have betrayed us.”
“More than half of the profit were taken by the company, nothing left with us but to live in starvation.” added.

Reportedly, due to financial crunch during the ongoing pandemic, more than 10,000 Ola and Uber drivers have become unemployed as they did not receive any financial assistance from both the companies and the Assam government to cop up with the covid crises.

Another, protestor Anil Das stated, “The Ola and Uber owner has betrayed us. As I failed to give my EMI due to pandemic my car was taken back by the car company, it was the only mode of earning my livelihood. Now no option left with me but to do suicide.”

The protesters interacting with the media persons said from August 1, 2021, all our drivers will be working under a new app, “Peindia”. Therefore, we are hopeful that this company will not deprive us.
