Borah filed the suit in response to several remarks that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had made about him in recent weeks.

Digital Desk: The President of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), Bhupen Borah has filed a Rs. 10 crore defamation case against Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

In response to several remarks that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had made about him in recent weeks, Borah filed the suit.

Previous statements made by the chief minister of Assam indicated that state Congress president Bhupen Borah would join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2025.

Following this statement, the senior Congress leader stated that he would shortly file a defamation suit.

In response to the CM's remarks, Borah charged that he was distorting the facts by making remarks of this nature.

"To make the media believe that I am on a true path, I will file a defamation suit against Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tomorrow," Borah stated in response to questions about the matter.

He asserted that Himanta Biswa Sarma soften use the strategy of making "baseless" claims to divert attention from the actual issues.

Furthermore, Borah asserted that he had no motive to join the BJP.

"I don't believe that joining the BJP would help the people's difficulties. They won't address the problems facing the six Assamese communities or fulfill their pre-election pledges, he added.

In addition, he asserted that the CM has broken every promise he has ever made and is now trying to divert attention from the public and media by making meaningless and baseless claims.

Additionally, the chief minister of Assam had stated that the Congress would vanish from places with a Hindu majority by 2026 and that it would be "removed" from areas with a Muslim majority by 2032.
