Digital Desk: In a significant move aimed at enhancing the quality of school education, the Assam Cabinet announced on Thursday its decision to merge the Board of Secondary Education (SEBA) and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC). The amalgamation will give rise to the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), a centralized body to develop, regulate, and supervise education standards.

Furthermore, the cabinet greenlit the Assam Secondary Education (Government Schools) Service (2nd Amendment) Rules, 2023, and the Assam Secondary Education (Provincialised Schools) Service (2nd Amendment) Rules, 2023. These amendments aim to streamline the recruitment process for Graduate and Post Graduate Teachers, including Subject Teachers in vocational subjects.

The revised rules focus on maintaining a balanced pupil-teacher ratio, ensuring optimal manpower utilization, and preventing adverse effects on academic activities at the Secondary level in Provincialized/Government Schools. These transformative measures signal a commitment to fostering a robust educational environment in the state.
