Digital Desk: The Pan Bazaar Police Division is preparing to charge Sangeeta Datta in connection with a child abuse case in Guwahati.


The police are planning to file a charge sheet in the continuing case involving Sangeeta Datta, who is set to appear in the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) court on Saturday for further proceedings.


In addition, Datta's personal assistant, Utpala Bose, who was previously detained for questioning, remains in the custody of the Pan Baazar Women police station.


According to sources, Sangeeta Datta and Utpala Bose both had their health examined again.


Sources reveal, On May 12, Guwahati Commissioner of Police (CP) Diganta Barah arrived at the Pan Bazar Women's Police Station to question Dr Sangeeta Datta. 


Utpala Bose was on the run for three days before being apprehended by authorities. She is accused of giving links for unlawfully picking up children to the corroded medical couple who have been accused of abusing their own children.


Regarding the child abuse case, Dr Waliul Islam, a surgeon, and Dr Sangeeta Datta, a psychiatrist, were detained on May 5 in Guwahati for allegedly holding twin siblings captive and abusing them for several months. The couple had previously been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, according to the police.
