Digital Desk: The Assam police CID arrested a fraudster in Hailakandi, Assam, for allegedly luring candidates appearing in the upcoming Grade III and Grade IV recruitment examinations.

Notably, this comes on the same day chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma directed the home and political departments to strictly enforce zero tolerance for any misconduct in the upcoming tests to fill Class-III and Class-IV level posts-old.

Written tests will be conducted for Class IV and Class III posts-old on August 21 and August 28, respectively.

The alleged fraudster has been identified as Ali Hussain Borbhuyan, a resident of Jamira Part 4, PS Ramnathpur in Hailakandi district.

The CID stated in a statement that the accused created a Whatsapp group and claimed that the question papers would be released one day before the exam for those who could pay money.

Following a quick investigation, the CID quickly arrested the accused, who is the admin of the aforementioned WhatsApp group.

The CID stated that the bank account number into which he instructed the candidates to deposit the money was maintained at the Union Bank of India in Bangalore. The account statement was examined, and those who deposited the funds were questioned. Additionally, the said account has been frozen.

Additionally, it said that no government representatives or SEBA authorities were involved in this matter.

Following the incident, Assam Police urged the applicants to avoid falling for these con artists and to contact their local police station right away if they come across any such information.
