During the meeting, CM Sarma invited PM Modi to attend the inaugural ceremony of the year-long celebration of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika's birth centenary as Chief Guest. 

Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma met the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday, April 19. 

During the meeting, CM Sarma invited PM Modi to attend the inaugural ceremony of the year-long celebration of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika's birth centenary as Chief Guest. 

He also invited him for the inauguration of the Assam Bio-Ethanol Plant, with a production capacity of 49 KTPA ethanol, using 300 KTPA bamboo as feedstock. 

CM Sarma extended invitation to the Prime Minister to lay the foundation stones of two key infrastructure projects worth Rs 5,700 crore in the state. The key projects include the Guwahati Ring Road project and the Darrang Medical College and Hospital project. 

Taking to X, the Chief Minister also said that PM Modi has agreed to attend these important events on  September 8, 2025.
