Accused Sajida, reportedly a resident of Algapur of Hailakandi district, was transporting a huge quantity of heroin.

Digital Desk: The Assam Police on Saturday, April 19, busted a major drug trafficking from the Sawkuchi area of Guwahati. The Basistha Police arrested a woman drug peddler, identified as Sajida Begum for allegedly operating a drug trade. The police also seized narcotics worth Rs 2 crore from her possession.

The Basistha police seized Rs 1,49,500 in cash and a mobile phone from her.

Accused Sajida, reportedly a resident of Algapur of Hailakandi district, was transporting a huge quantity of heroin. During an operation by the Basistha police, she was arrested with the drugs. 

As per report, police have recovered four soap boxes and 13 plastic packets filled with more than 278 grams of heroin.

Authorities had conducted an intense search operation in a rented house in Natun Basti of the Fatashil area following Sajida's arrest. A large quantity of drugs were recovered during the operation, police said.

Further investigations are underway.
