Digital Desk: The Assam government announced that 33,482 students in the state will receive scholarships under the Chief Minister's Special Scholarship Scheme in 2016.

This special scholarship initiative, which will be handed out today, (December 22), is administered by the Assam Directorate of Elementary Education.

The scholarship programme is one of the educational incentives provided by the Assam government.

In this context, the Chief Minister's "Assam Bikash Yojana Scheme" Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarship to Meritorious BPL Students gives financial aid to students in classes IX and X (Pre-Matric) and XI-XII (Post-Matric) at rates of INR 300 and INR 350 per month, respectively.

Furthermore, the Assam government has set up several other scholarships, including the Combined Merit Scholarship for degree and master's degree students, with monthly stipends ranging from INR 150 to INR 500.

There are also scholarships of INR 50,000 available for SC/ST/OBC female students pursuing postgraduate studies in agriculture-related fields.

In conclusion, the Assam government's array of scholarship schemes, notably the Chief Minister's Special Scholarship Scheme, demonstrates a strong commitment to improving the state's educational landscape by giving financial assistance to eligible students.
