In a concise resignation letter addressed to National Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Narah conveyed his immediate release from the Indian National Congress.
The primary catalyst behind Narah's decision lies in the party's refusal to nominate his wife, Ranee Narah, for the Lakhimpur parliamentary constituency. Ranee, a former Member of Parliament and Union Minister of State during the UPA 2 government lost the nomination race to Uday Shankar Hazarika, who recently defected to the Congress from the ruling BJP.
Expressing his dismay, Narah had previously submitted his resignation letter to Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Bhupen Kumar Borah before traveling to Delhi to meet with the party's central leadership. Despite this setback, Narah reaffirmed his unwavering dedication to the party's cause.
